With the release date drawing ever closer, Netflix has released the final trailer for the upcoming TV series, The Witcher. Check out the super footage in the video player below:

Geralt of Rivia – Henry Cavill

The first season hasn’t even aired yet, but already it has been confirmed that the show will be having a second season. Showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich commented: “I am so excited that before viewers dive into season one, we are already able to confirm that we’ll be returning to The Continent again to continue telling the stories of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, and to showcase more of the amazing work that our cast and crew have delivered.”

The second season will begin production in London early in 2020, for a planned debut in 2021. Key cast including Henry Cavill (Mission Impossible – Fallout, Man of Steel) as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) as Yennefer, and Freya Allan (The Third Day, Into The Badlands) as Ciri, will all return for the sophomore season which will also feature eight episodes.

Executive Producers for season two will be Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, Tomek Baginski, Jason F. Brown, Sean Daniel, Mike Ostrowski, Steve Gaub and Jarosław Sawko.  

THE WITCHER season 1 will be airing on Netflix December 20th, which started production last September and it was shot in various locations around the world. Cavill, who is largely known for his role as SUPERMAN and his recent performance as August Walker in MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – FALLOUT is playing the lead role in the best-selling fantasy series.

 

Based on the best-selling fantasy series of books, The Witcher is an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

 

Henry Cavill (Mission Impossible – Fallout, Justice League) leads the cast of The Witcher saga, playing the role of Geralt of Rivia, alongside other main cast members,  Anya Chalotra (The ABC Murders, Wanderlust) as Yennefer and Freya Allan (The War of the Worlds, Into The Badlands) as Ciri.

Other previously announced cast include Jodhi May (Game of Thrones, Genius) as Calanthe, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson (Fortitude) as Eist, Adam Levy (Knightfall, Snatch) as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring (Ripper Street, Kill List) as Tissaia), Mimi Ndiweni (Black Earth Rising) as Fringilla, Therica Wilson-Read (Profile) as Sabrina, and Emma Appleton (The End of The F**king World) as Renfri, Eamon Farren (The ABC Murders, Twin Peaks) as Cahir, Joey Batey (Knightfall, Strike) as Jaskier, Lars Mikkelsen (House of Cards, Sherlock) as Stregobor, Royce Pierreson (Wanderlust, Judy) as Istredd, Maciej Musiał (1983) as Sir Lazlo, Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Jamillah & Aladdin, Dickensian) as Dara, and Anna Shaffer (Harry Potter) as Triss.

The TV series will consist of 8 episodes with Alik Sakharov (House of Cards, Game of Thrones)  — calling the shots on the first 4 episodes, including the opener. Following on from that, the next four episodes will see Alex Garcia Lopez (Marvel’s Luke Cage, Utopia,Marvel’s Daredevil, Fear The Walking Dead) and Charlotte Brändström (Outlander, Counterpart, Disparue) in the director’s chair for 2 episodes each.
