Channing Tatum The Hateful Eight

Channing Tatum is certainly determined to expand his CV. Not long after he signed on to play Marvel’s Gambit, now he’s joined the cast of Quentin Tarantino’s latest Western, THE HATEFUL EIGHT.

Tatum is the second star to sign up to Tarantino’s eighth film (or ninth film if you want to be picky and count Kill Bill as two films) after the casting of Jennifer Jason Leigh last month.

At this point, Tatum’s role in the film is unknown, but rumour has it, it will certainly be a meaty part. Chances are, Tatum will be one of the titular eight characters and since QT has a notorious reputation of bringing out a powerhouse performance in every actor he works with, it’s a guarantee that Tatum will be a delight on screen.

THE HATEFUL EIGHT has had a troubled production, owing to the first draft being leaked online in January 2014, causing Tarantino to cancel the project altogether. Thankfully, to the gratitude of the QT fanatics around the world, Tarantino changed his mind, hosting a live reading of the script in April, before announcing plans to work on a new draft. So while the producers are probably measuring the patience-tester as we speak, after THE HATEFUL EIGHT’s dodgy start, any news is good news where we’re concerned.

While a release date has yet to be confirmed, we know filming is due to commence in early 2015, so with any luck, we should get the film in cinemas by the end of next year.
