Not long after Tatum announced his involvement with Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming THE HATEFUL EIGHT, we’ve been given an info overload in the form of the full line-up of the titular eight in addition to the full synopsis for the film. So, patience DOES pay off.

Without further ado, the eight main cast members are as follows:

The Hateful Eight cast

(Left to right – Samuel L. Jackson – Major Marquis Warren “The Bounty Hunter”, Kurt Russell – John Ruth “The Hangman”, Jennifer Jason Leigh – Daisy Domergue “The Prisoner”, Walton Goggins – Chris Mannix “The Sheriff”)

The Hateful Eight cast

(Left to right – Demian Bichir – Bob “The Mexican”, Tim Roth – Oswaldo Mobray “The Little Man”, Michael Madsen – Joe Gage “The Cow Puncher”, Bruce Dern – General Sandy Smithers “The Confederate”)

Quite an eclectic variety there in THE HATEFUL EIGHT cast. We’ve got a mix of Tarantino veterans in Jackson, Russell Goggins, Roth, and Madsen (Dern only had a cameo in Django Unchained), and established actors finally working with QT in Jason Leigh and Belchir. Both QT newbies are fine choices. Jason Leigh is said to be an intensive method actor and Belchir previously picked up an Oscar nod for Best Actor for his work on the 2011 drama film A Better Life.

Of course, a notable emission is Channing Tatum. We’re going to be in the dark for a little while longer until we know what his part is going to be.

And of course, the synopsis, per The Weinstein Company:

“In THE HATEFUL EIGHT, set six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff.

Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all…”

The pre-production of THE HATEFUL EIGHT has been like looking at a gigantic chess board… and the pieces are finally moving. Let’s just hope there are no more leaks from here on out.
