With international travel contained and restricted because of current global issues, it is clear that technological alternatives are the way forward at the moment – and a new TV / Web series, ALICE IN PARIS -celebrating a young woman’s passion for food and the culinary arts – is showcased at the 2021 Edition of the Paris International Film Festival, taking place from 4th – 14th February 2021.

Alice (Alysse Hallali) desperately wants to enter Paris’ gastronomy scene and her goal is to do it in either a fracassant want, or with a splash.

The creative minds behind the project are director Thibaud Paul Martin and producer Jay Holzer.

ABOVE: Director Thibaud Paul Martin

Reflecting on his own journey, Martin had this to say:

I started my career by studying editing and postproduction at the public audiovisual BTS in Toulouse.

Once in Paris, I worked as a trailer editor at SoniaToutCourt. Today, it’s at Filmanoid or HandsUp that I put together promo-reels, teasers and making of. At the same time, I got my hands dirty with workflows as a technician at HighFun PostProduction and Mikros Image.

An overview and many skills brought me to the post-production direction at Anita-Kitchen. But my main passion is still telling stories and understanding how they work. My library is filled with dramaturgy books. The masterclasses of John Truby and Cédric Salmon were key stages in my career, which was completed in early 2015 with training as a literary director at the CEEA, a position I have held for Latika Production since September 2015.

Finally, these two paths have been mixed with a third, that of making short films and spotlights in search of a personal style and stories that I could tell.”
